I've gotten the impression that bailouts are now a permanent part of our political landscape.

Right Jet, because the majority of the time you are searching for a job is spent interviewing. I don't think it's too much to ask that you watch your kid and read the want adds at the same time.

PS - drop in daycare exisits, but heaven forbid a parent have to pay $10. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money.

Smurfy: I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure that most employers wouldn't look kindly on an applicant bringing their young child along to fidget while the parent interviews or fills out an application.

"a state unemployment rate of 8.2% (and probably headed higher) threatens to swamp nonprofits that care for the most vulnerable among us."

Wait, if you're unemployed, why do you need childcare?

this lady wants $3 or $4 million and i bet she doesn't think that she should have to pay it back. at least paying the sum back was supposed to be a condition of these bailouts. it sounds to me like she wants a $4 million donation from the tax payers because her non profit extended its operations to a level it could afford. maybe the organization should try fund raising. that is exactly what NPOs do, though you wouldn't think it from her editorial. it sounds to me like they haven't even tried. ghast! we may have to work on raising money instead of it being given to us, no strings attached. the horror! sorry but i have no sympathy.

on another note, i am not sure american express is legally allowed to do what she is saying. the whole point of incorporating a business is that it protects shareholders, owners and employees from being liable for the debts of the company. i think what she is saying simply isn't true. maybe someone more informed on the topic can chime in.

and just as i expected, the list of beggars grows on...
