They’re so psychotic, and in such denial, they actually consider their phony drug war a real war in which collateral damage is acceptable. They don’t even apologize when they blow it. We need militarized task forces going after marijuana almost as much as we need a smallpox outbreak. The drug war has had virtually no effect on supply. As fast as they lock up one dealer WE have to support, another one takes his place on the streets. The more they lock up, the more they beg for money to fund yet more militarized police. Since the start of the drug war street prices on heroin and cocaine have DROPPED. I can’t find ANYONE but cops, and aged politicians who think this is a good idea. We’ve totally lost control of our government.

I feel MUCH worse for the countless innocent victims of these type raids than I do for the handful of cops who’ve been injured (or killed) participating in them.

Funny how when police kill dogs or even people the attitude, like Lt. Harris from Police Academy, “Too bad, so sad, bye bye.” But if an innocent resident manages to kill an unlawful home invader who happens to wear a badge it’s “give the murderer the needle.”

Hey, let’s face it. If they had gunned down every living thing inside the home they wouldn’t be facing embarrassment now. They could have declared Calvo guilty without a trial and patted themselves on the back for taking a few kilos of killer weed off the streets. From their twisted perspective it just makes good sense to be murderous fiends. No apologies, no trials and no loose ends. So, yeah, restraint. Heh indeedy.

If the police were catching pot being mailed to people, how hard would it have been to get a postal inspector to cooperate with them? A postal inspector could get in USPS garb and draw Calvo out, where they could have peacefully detained him.

The fact that stuff like this comes to my mind, and I’m a software engineer, and these people are supposed to be the “law enforcement professionals” is what makes me think that we’ve hired a bunch of hotheads that just want an excuse to play rambo.

Of course they'll engage in denial, but no one should be surprised; denial is a major component of the DrugWar itself: denial of its' obvious and intrinsic inability to affect the illegal drug trade in any significant way. The rising tonnage (tonnage!) of contraband interdicted and the steady price and improving quality of each proscribed substance is (embarrassing) proof of that ineffectiveness. Any admission of failure is, perforce, a condemnation of the entire enterprise; can't have that, now can we? So, we continue to 'destroy the village in order to save it', one family (and yes, I do consider pets as family members, wanna make somethin' of it?) at a a time. Jeez...
