I Love the Smell of Murderous Thuggery in the Evening

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Legendary high-end Paris candle-maker Cire Trudon introduces “Ernesto,” for those of you who want to fill your home with the scent of a sweaty, murdering, Latin revolutionary:

In a hotel of Havana, sizzling under the stubborn sun of the Revolution, fierce overtones of leather and tobacco meddle with waxy silence of wood. Breaking out of the cool dimness, sly grimaces emerge, framed by the smoke of cigars and the barrels of guns.

Please note, this scent isn’t for the proletariat.  This particular block of paraffin infused with the scent of glorious Marxist uprising will set you back a cool $75 for 9.5 ounces.  ¡Hasta la Victoria Siempre!

Thanks to Jim McCarthy for the link.

The rich always love communist revolutionaries, at least until the revolutionaries are lining them up against the wall during the revolution.

I’m not a big fan of Castro, but it’s worth reminding everyone that futures trading in grains over the last few years drove up the price to such an extent that tens of millions of people starved to death. 50-60 million by some estimates. Now, whether this was the result of a misguided ethanol program or the oil corps malevolently using the futures system to take the shine off the ethanol apple, regardless 50 million people died.

That’s more than Hitler killed in the camps.

So, why do you see the piece of sawdust in another’s eye and not notice the wooden beam in your own eye?

Oh, and that’s entirely besides the irony of some capitalist selling this thing to other bourgeoisie for a price that could feed a dozen starving orphans for a month.
