Weird
Saturday, November 15th, 2008So the Wi-Fi at my hotel here in L.A. has a peculiar glitch. I can’t access any Google websites. I can get everything else. But no Google search, no Gmail, no Google News, no YouTube. Websites with Google ads (like my own) load, but the ads don’t.
Very strange.

“I see your hair is burning, hills are filled with fire …”
Welcome to fire season, Radley. Stay cool.
Sure you aren’t in L.A., China?
“Free wireless is brought to you by Yahoo.”
Don’t you know? google is anti-american and right minded people and businesses are boycotting that evil company.

Why do you hate America?

(wonder if the owner of that hotel supported Prop 8?)
What is probably happening is that the hotel DNS server is sending bogus IP addresses to your laptop for google.
Try using 4.2.2.2 as your DNS server. That should clear up the problem.
I see two options: a.)Bill Gates may own your hotel or b.) the Feds were busy going through your email while they thought your were en route. They’ll be done in a minute.
this is sad, but i don’t know what i’d do without google
Funny that you should mention this, because the other day, right before I went to bed, my computer wouldn’t load anything but Google pages!!
That thing on Drudge the other day about Google tracking “flu” searches by region was a little creepy.
Try using this website: http://www.scroogle.org/
It tunnels anonymously through Google, so it might work.
You’ve really gotta ask Reason to swing for one of those wireless 3G internet cards from AT&T or Verizon. You deserve it!
You didnt hear about Prop 8.5? Ban Google…
tarran – Good advice. 4.2.2.2, the favorite IP address of every network admin.
You might have some sort of dns-hijacking virus or spyware. Are you on windows or mac?
The same thing happened to me a few days ago. It came back after about an hour.
God is smiting you for your crimes. You know the ones. Oh, yes you do.
