It’s funny, the columnist tries to make the point that conservatives and liberals aren’t that different, and by the third comment some douche comes back with “Liberals are more intelligent than conservatives.” I guess if you define yourself by an ideology, it’s difficult to ignore ego when you compare ideologies.
Of course, I tend to get defensive when things are casually blamed on “free markets,” and I feel that libertarians tend to be more intelligent and articulate than liberals or conservatives…
It’s a surprise that liberals don’t have a sense of humor? To confirm that fact, please start your watches and stop them when you hear your first joke at Obama’s expense……I’m betting it will still be running come 2012.
Gee, after reading the comments on that site … you can see why conservatives have embraced ‘anti-intellectualism’ lately … talk about arrogant liberals ….
I’m a liberal and I thought almost all of those jokes were pretty funny! I can’t speak for the sour-puss, arrogant libs, though.
jwh: I heard a few pretty good zingers directed at Obama from John Stewart last night, right after he was elected! In fact, I predict you will hear far funnier Obama jokes from the Left than from Limbaugh or O’Reilley, that’s for sure.
Let’s face it, ideology aside, some people just don’t get a joke.
This reminds me of a joke. The head of the Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics departments are all in the Dean’s office for a meeting. The Dean temporarily steps out of the room. Soon after, the three professors notice a fire burning in the trash can next to the Dean’s desk.
The Chemistry professors says “I know what to do, we need to deprive the fire of fuel by removing the paper.” The Physics professor says, “I know what to do, we need to deprive the fire of oxygen so the flame will go out.” The first two then stare aghast at the Statistics professor running about the room setting additional fires. “What are you doing they yell!”. The Statistics professors says, “I’m trying to get an appropriate sample set before I know what to do.”
Isn’t any good humor just a dig at the current establishment? Which conservatives are loath to do?
How about that liberals actually are funnier, but those are all shitty jokes? A comedian would probably not laugh at any of those jokes, because it takes a certain threshold of cleverness and humor to tickle him anymore. I imagine that’s what’s going on.
I am conservative – but have a great sense of humor. Those were some of the dumbest jokes I’ve ever seen. If they want to test peoples sense of humor, at least make the jokes funny.
