Type “Barack Obama” into this online English-to-German translator, and see what happens.
The New Yorker profiles Bob Barr.
St. Lucie Country, Florida has apparently solved all violent crime.
McCain’s hero (and a hero of neocons generally) was a socialist. Not just that, he was also a warmonger with a God complex.
Australia is trying to censor the Internet. The country’s also trying to censor information about how its attempt to censor the Internet is failing.
Via Trey Garrison, Ned Flanders has apparently moved to Dallas.

Someone at MS has a weird sense of humor….
Interesting (and odd) with the translator. Only does it for the proper name (ie, if you type in barack obama (lower case) it comes out barack obama). Also see what happens with “Barack Hussein Obama”
And? Obama and Rudy are the same person, they just want to control you in different ways. If only the rest of the media would translate like this.
When I try the translation, I simply get the name back again. What did it previously say?
Ah…case-sensitive. nm
Tim Noah needs to try again on that article. He doesn’t come close to succeeding in making his case, except to prove: look, Teddy Roosevelt supported a graduated income tax and so does Barack Obama. Therefore, they are both socialists or neither of them is a socialist. That is…stupid. If that’s the best that journalists can come up with for arguments I am so in the wrong profession.
> Obama and Rudy are the same person, they just want to control you in different ways. If only the rest of the media would translate like this.
Is this the point the guy at Microsoft was trying to make?
The MPD does a Craigslist roundup about twice a year. The bust a dozen johns or so, and a few hookers. Then they make a big deal out of it on the news. “Perverts among us! News at 10″
Memphis is like Detroit South when it comes to violence. We just live with it. A cop who killed his mistress just had his charges upgraded to first degree murder yesterday. There’s rampant violence perpetrated by the police and the good cops are busy rounding up prostitutes and drunks. No one even expects the police to investigate property crime anymore. If your car gets broken into(like mine did), if your shop gets tagged by graffitti vandals, if you get mugged a few blocks from Beale Street (like I did.) you’re just SOL.
I’m not sure that I would call TR a socialist. He was a progressive, and people often associate the two. But contemporary terms don’t jive very well with a guy who was in office 100 years or so ago. I agree with John that it takes more than tax policy to prove a socialist ideology.
I love how the PD brings throws in, ‘”In the past few years, we have arrested hundreds of sexual predators using Internet chat rooms to try to exploit children sexually,” while trumpeting their sting of craigslist hookers. It’s always about protecting the kids!
I also love how they cite people calling and complaining about the ads on craigslist, when the ads are placed under a plain heading in services called ‘erotica’. They’re not thrown in anyone’s face- you gotta dig a bit. For the morals geeks, it seems like this would be much better than street walkers…
“‘Who am I?’
I’m under 45 years old, I love the outdoors, I hunt, I am a Republican reformer, I have taken on the Republican Party establishment, I have many children, I have a spot on the national ticket as vice president with less than two years in the governor’s office. Who am I?”
Teddy Roosevelt in 1900
Somehow, I don’t think we’ll see BO’s mug on anything close to a Mt Rushmore in any of our lifetimes…….
The news media are part of the problem. Scroll to the bottom of the story and:
“Busted. See the latest local mug shots. Click here.”
We need to push for laws restricting the publication of mugshots or other personal data upon arres, before conviction.
Prostitution laws protect the property rights of the State as the owner of women.
If a woman cannot legally control her own body, then she is no more than livestock.
Behold the State, master of all.
Barr still has a ways to go. Did you know that almost all the dangers of heroin are because of its illegality? The most dangerous side-effect of medical-grade heroin is that it causes constipation.
I agree with martin on the mugshots thing. It would be more accurate to say “We, the media, find these people GUILTY!” see humiliating pics of these pervs: click here
I also recall them using limewire.com to catch pedophiles. Thats Ok with me but anyone who uses this site knows you cant always tell what you’re downloading from its title.
Remember: you can kiss a nun once, but don’t get into the habit.
*ba dump bump CHING*
Every article that I read about Bob Barr make me less likely to vote for the man. Looks like I’ll be stuck with casting a write-in vote.
Mr. Healy:
At this point I’m seriously considering casting a write in vote for Lysander Spooner. And, to complete the absurdist effect, William Beck for VP.
Yeah, what did the translator say? I typed in Barack Obama and Barack Hussein Obama, and all I got was more taxes and less freedom, but still the same name I typed in originally…so, anyone, what did it say?
PSYOP – The translator seems to be fixed now. This morning it translated ‘Barack Obama’ as ‘Rudy Guiliani’ and ‘Barack Hussein Obama’ as ‘Hussein von Rudy Guiliani’. I’m not entirely sure what the point of that was.
Kishnevi, +1 for Lysander Spooner. Vote for him and receive +1 for irony. ;)
“Looks like I’ll be stuck with casting a write-in vote.”
Don’t do it Mike! You’ll hate yourself in the morning. See above.
I was going to vote for Barr, but the more I’m reminded of his past actions, the less I think he deserves a vote (I know he’s changed his mind on the issues, but I wonder if he feels bad about what he did, because, good Christ, was that man a bigoted, hypocritical douchebag of the highest order). And I’m still wondering if the Libertarian Party deserves a vote for nominating someone like Bob Barr. I want the party and its ideas to get more attention, so I might still hold my nose and pull the lever. Then again…
You know, Ron Paul did endorse a candidate for president…
…it takes more than tax policy to prove a socialist ideology.
Any tax policy is socialist.
Also, why all the talk of voting? Have some principles.
Castle Bravo, thanks!
