Priceless!

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

From Wired:

Cost to install a camera in the town park in Liberty, Kansas (funded by a federal grant : $5,000)

Population of Liberty, Kansas: 95

Irony of spending $50 per resident to install a federally-funded surveillance camera in a tiny town called “Liberty”: Well, you know how the commercial goes.

I’ll bet dollars to dimes that the mayor or whomever decided they needed this (you know the 94 citizens did not) will be caught doing some perverted thing by the camera.

You know, if they tried installing one of these cameras in the small town in my county I’m pretty sure the local hillbillies and rednecks (full disclosure – I’d include myself as one of that group) would just take it as a challenge. A case of beer to the first one to put a bullet through it with his deer rifle.

Hopefully there are similarly inclined individuals in Liberty (oh brother the irony) Kansas.
