And Another One
Tuesday, October 21st, 2008The city of New Orleans has offered an $85,000 settlement with three men wrongly arrested and jailed after a 2002 drug raid. When the three police detectives who conducted the raid were later implicated in various other crimes, investigators discovered that the detectives had also planted the drugs they say they found in the raid.

SOP in NOLA.
And just about everywhere else in the USA.
Louisiana has some of the toughest drug laws in the nation, esp marijuana prohibition. Meanwhile, NOPD remains one of the most corrupt law enforcement organizations in the US. The combination is a recipe for disaster.
By my count, one of four cops involved actually was indicted for something unrelated (id theft), but none faced any charges for this crap. Even after the internal investigation found this out.
Amazing. If you’re going to live a life of crime, just pick up a badge first and become immune to prosecution.
The bill for the war on drugs keeps getting bigger.
