I just read that the Supreme Court granted the stay of execution. Thank goodness. Unfortunately, granting a stay and ordering a new trial are two different things. Well, fingers crossed.

What I can't understand is why the victims family is so dismissive of the evidence exonerating Troy Davis. Yes, they want revenge. I get that. But shouldn't they want revenge against the right guy? I couldn't imagine if something like this happened to my loved ones, but you'd be darn sure that if strong evidence suggested the convicted person was innocent I'd be the first to demand a new trial.

I clicked on the link to read the story about the man shot in his shower. You should read the drivel that most posters have written, it's typical "the cops can't do no wrong" garbage.

What don't these people get about it? I could pick up the phone or send something through the mail and have the police raid virtually anybody's home (as long as they aren't politically connected). There's a good chance that someone would end up dead! All on my word!

As for the police department being "transparent?" Yeah, about as transparent as the inside of a black hole. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets any better. There just aren't enough people who recognize that something is very wrong.

Just yesterday, I read on the ArmyTimes website that active duty soldiers from 3ID (not national guard!) are training here in the states to respond to "civil unrest!" Posse Comitatus ring a bell?

Outside of witnesses, was there any physical evidence (Gunpowder residue, murder weapon, etc) presented?

I want to get my dog cloned. She is the most amazing mutt in the world and I want to raise her again. She's 7 human years old now and probably has 5 or 6 more years in her. That means those scientists have 5 or 6 years to make this affordable. They better hurry.
And fuck the humane society for their kneejerk opposition to this. They specifically say 'nobody knows what goes on in those labs' then they insist it is cruel? that makes absolutely no sense.

Omar, I fully believe if the victim had not been a cop, this foolishness would have been stopped long ago. But, a cop was killed, so someone, must die, even if he is innocent!

This is from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution this morning, illustrating your point quite well:

Chatham County prosecutors have expressed confidence that Davis is a cop killer. MacPhail, who was working security off-duty, rushed to a Savannah Burger King parking lot late at night after hearing the screams of a man being pistol-whipped.

Note the language. Not "prosecutors have expressed confidence that Davis committed the murder". They say "prosecutors have expressed confidence that Davis is a cop killer". There's a difference there.

The Troy Davis case seems like it's being ignored in Atlanta. A search of Niel Boortz's site doesn't have a word. I've just seen local reports about it here and there.

What a shame. I don't understand what the parole board could be thinking. Are they that corrupt or blind that they can't just look and say "let's wait"? When you convict someone, and the evidence changes, you give that person the benefit of the doubt and retry them. It's a smart thing to do!

What's the rush? I can't see the justification for doing this now except revenge for killing a cop. And revenge feels good, even if you have the wrong guy.
