Birmingham is one of the best cities in the south. I lived there for 8 years and grew up about 1 hour northeast of it. Great food, great entertainment(if you like rock, folk or blues), great parks, lots of free or cheap entertainment and fantastic shopping areas. I am glad to see something good coming out of their paper.
When you see on TV, or read in a newspaper that drugs support terrorist activities is this what they are referring to?
Haha! I think you hit the nail on the head.
I especially like the line in the article that says, “While the drug trade still enriches the bad guys, police chiefs now get a piece of the action.” It fits right in with my belief that government is just another gang competing with all the other gangs.
It’s self feeding moster. It costs a lot of money for bullet proof vests, assault rifles, battering rams and the like. They can only get that money if they confiscate it from the drug dealers, and they can’t do that without bullet proof vest, assault rifles and battering rams. The drug war makes them money. Do you think Eisenhower could have envisioned the the drug war as a part of the military industrial complex?
Yes,thanks conservatives, thanks liberals, I feel soooo much …freeeeer now.The 4th ammend. is an ink blot now…along with most of the others. By the way ,it’s not “forfeiture” that is providing most of the funds for the rearming of the USA’s police forces.
Well, it’s GREAT to hear this sort of thing coming out of the southern US (home of the bible). I was born in Georgia and have lived in the south most of my life, and it truly is the bastion of social conservatism. Many, if not most southerners want PUNISHMENT, civil liberties be damned! After travelling to many other countries and cultures, it can be pretty damned upsetting to hear what a lot of southerners think. I just had to get that off my chest, so no offense to any southern Libertarians or other true patriots.
