The Daily Show may make fun of everyone auggie but John Stewart has admitted that each election cycle he wants to get the Democrats elected … he said it 4 years ago about Kerry. At least he’s honest about it.

Has anyone ever pointed out to these a-holes that by their very logic, gays wouldn’t be getting “special rights,” but rather we’d ALL be getting the right to marry people of the same sex. And who wants to oppose more rights for EVERYONE?

You know, democrats just don’t get it. The only thing belittling the other side will get you is resentment. Funny? Absolutely, effective? No.

Maybe they’re trying to open the populations’ eyes to the fact that it’s all bullshit. Republican, democrat, doesn’t matter.

Penn and Teller don’t exactly spend all their time bashing liberal views. And conservatives do have comedians who do just that (is the “The 1/2 hour news hour” still on?), they just aren’t funny because they don’t get that “the Daily Show” are going for a laugh first and any political point a distant second, whereas the Dennis Millers of the world seem to have it the other way round.

Common sense sounds like a MUCH better idea!

Common sense and small town values, why didn’t I think of that?

I have been curious of late about the actual population numbers comparing “small town” or “rural” populations vs. “urban” or “metropolitan” populations. I checked the census bureau:

As far as I can tell couldn’t find this difficult statistic. Difficult because how do you classify a city like St. Louis, MO, for instance, which is spread out containing something like 45% living in “rural” areas yet only a couple of miles outside of the city core.
The reason I ask? When I see this push from the right to defend small town values and gear their retoric toward them, I feel the need to know how many people we are talking about. Later with that info we could talk in more specifics. Such as where the majority of the GDP comes from, race populations, the dreaded religious beliefs etc.
A little help please…….
