I think the real question is: would she sign it now that it might make her look weak on crime and less desirable? She’s a political opportunist.

It’s time you realized that she has very strong libertarian leanings. Imperfect, but strong. Unfortunately, a true libertarian could not be a member of government, at least the way it is currently constituted. Compromise leads to errors; but her heart seems to be in the right place.

    Hey, not bad.

And the token bread crumbs just keep coming.

She may be the least repulsive of all the candidates, but I still wouldn’t vote for any of them if you put a gun to my head and said, “Vote or I’ll blow your brains out.”

The only way to win is not to play.

It’s important to remember that the federal government has its collective boot up Alaska’s ass, economically speaking, in a way that probably no other state does. It’s not hard to feel some sympathy for the state when you realize how much their energy sector is hobbled by federal regulations and ownership of most of the state’s land.

Meaningless platitudes for some, jokes about how people don’t deserve constitutional protection or miranda rights for the rest!

This is pretty much the definition of what they call ‘hoodwinked’.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a “task that is from God.”

In an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged ministry students to pray for a plan to build a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in the state, calling it “God’s will.”

God speaks to her too, just like to Bush. Political opportunist is right, she will say whatever to whoever to gain “trust”. She might be better than others, but this is the same tired “lesser of two evils” mentality that has played out for far too long.

Hot, likes guns, likes jury nullification, likes independence.

    Check.

    Christy, likes earmarks and war.

    Hm.

God also told her to pander to dumbasses who think having a ‘special day’ actually means something :)

Somewhere, out there, is a Jim Nabors appreciation day as well.

    Likes jury nullification–OK.
Likes creationism (or whatever they’re calling it this week)–Not OK.
    Lacks foreign policy experience–Not OK.
Stupid mockery of Michelle Obama–Not OK.
    Supports the Iraq War–Not OK.
    Supports the Drug War–Not OK.
    Sorry–it just doesn’t add up.

Her policies just don’t add up. This is sounding like the John Kerry Campaign, saying what ever the current audience is trying to advance… Is she this election’s official “flip-flopper” ?

Look, the surprising thing is not that Palin is like most other politicians who think they can assure re-election by bringing home the bacon or pandering to this or that group’s special causes when it suits her. The surprise is that people have been naive enough to think McCain would pick someone who was anything else! I’m sorry, but I feel this way whenever someone runs up to speculate on whether some politician may be the Great Hope Of Freedom because of some tiny, unrepresentative snippet from his resume that makes it look like he might actually care about limited government.

Let us please, please, please get over that notion. With rare exceptions, the Democrats and Republicans are not in the business of advancing political freedom. Period. Very few of them take it seriously and none of those few are on a presidential ticket. The rest don’t think that many who vote care about it and – more importantly – they are convinced that any who do care have no choice and will vote for them anyway. They know the YouTube question picked will never be, “Give us some examples of how the federal government has too much power and what specifically you promise to do to remove that power.” Or, “Name a significant social problem the federal government is currently trying to address that it is not really the federal government’s job to address.” Voting for either big media candidate is voting for a bigger, more expensive government with more power to control, regulate, tax and generally interfere with your life.

McCain and Obama pretend to be on opposite sides of the fence, but the fundamental reality is that they are both statist enough to think the use of government authority is a good way to solve problems. Politicians suffer from “tool tunnel vision”: When the tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. The tool they have is government. God help you if you look like a problem.

I think this is certainly weighs in her favor.

From a “classical liberal’s” standpoint, I’ll bet she stacks up well against Biden.

whatever she believed in Alaska, is certainly not what McCain will have her believe in DC.
