Fascinating story in the Washington Post about the ancient, conquered viruses encased in the human genome.
Good op-ed in this morning’s Baltimore Sun about police raids.
Beautiful photos of London at night.
Female Iraq War vet found in a contractor’s tent beaten, raped, shot in the head, and partially burned, with lye poured on her vagina. Somehow, Army doctors ruled her death a “suicide.” Dr. Hayne must be doing autopsies for the federal government, now.
Tough guys and puppies.
An Atlanta judge arrested for drunk driving who refused to take a breath test will not lose his license after the cop who pulled him over “lost the paperwork” associated with the arrest. How convenient.

The link about the murdered soldier goes to the article about puppies. All in all, more pleasant, but still.
“Female Iraq War vet found”. Has the tough guys and puppies URL.

Greg Bear’s Darwin’s Radio uses this as the basis for its premise. Very cool.
Looks like scenes from a really good SimCity 4 City Journal. Very cool.
Looks like Blackwater hacked the link.
Dollars to donuts the arresting officer was told to “lose” the paperwork by his superiors. /obvious
Found a link to the Iraq war vet story http://www.stlamerican.com/articles/2008/06/04/news/local_news/localnews03.txt
Ok, maybe not the same story, but definitely a trend???
Link fixed. Sorry.
The “tough guys and puppies” link scared me – I was sure it was going to be to a news article reporting on yet another police atrocity – shooting puppies or somesuch.
What a relief!
Good link.
Great morning links- got a dose of optimism with the bikers and the puppies and the op-ed in the Sun… Nice photos of London… and the usual (almost unbelievable) outrage with the girl from MO brutalized in Iraq and the judge skirting the law for drinking and driving… the water cooler topics are covered!
Rescue Ink? Seems like a collection of busybodies who advocate interfering in another property owner’s business. No better than the ASPCA.
Tell them to get the hell off your property and don’t come back.
On the contrary, quite unlike the ASPCA, this group isn’t taking dogs at gunpoint and arresting those who don’t follow their orders. They made contact with property owners, made suggestions, and helped find homes for dogs, all with the owners’ cooperation.
