As far as I understand, they typically make drip coffee with espresso beans. I was actually able to quit drinking coffee there. People prefer the independent cafes. They are cheaper and the coffee is more to the local taste. So much for the ability of marketers to create a perceived need. And yes a lot of the local cafes could be described as more sophisticated than Starbucks if that is what you are interested in. Personally I don't mind the ambience of Starbucks' cafes.But the real story is it failed because it was seen as providing a poorer more expensive product.
