Listen to Me on NPR
Friday, August 8th, 2008Several NPR stations (including WAMU in D.C.) are re-airing the Intelligence Squared debate I participated in last January on the use of performance enhancing substances in sports. I guess it’s a tie-in to the Olympics.
It’ll air at 6pm on Sunday evening.
Of course, you could also just stream the debate from NPR’s website any time you want.

I’ll have to stream it this weekend at some point.
Your inteview on WAMU a few years back is want got me interested in the whole Nanny State phenomenon and pointed me here.
I have a copy of that episode on my zune and have listened to it a few times. It is one of the few things that both make me laugh and cry at some of the prohibitionist responses.
With the Olympics now here, I wonder how NBC and Bob Costas in particular are going to treat Dara Torres. Normally this is the type of lifestyle story that gets their sports producers to wet themselves, a 41 year old mother coming back to the sport after having a kid. In reality though she is a double edge sword for the prohibitionist’s. She is either using explicitly banned substances or substances that would be instantly if the anti doping gestapo knew they existed or she goes to show that the argument that PED should be banned because not everyone has access is full of shit since she is spending more than a 100,000 on a sport where maybe 2 or 3 people every 4 years will every make more than that amount with endorsements. The other thing funny about her is how willing people are to give her the benefit of the doubt yet Bonds has been crucified for the sins of everyone with still no evidence he knowing used.
