Will, your kind words gave me a lift, thanks and keep pouring on the piss and vinegar at Freedom In Our Time!

Looking through this list at 47 entries, it's almost creepy how much overlap I find, if even with my own tastes.

The most prominent disc in my collection that fits the theme here: Paula Abdul, <i>"Forever Your Girl"</i>.

A live performance note: when I was the lighting director at The Tabernacle in Atlanta, we had KC and The Sunshine Band in for a New Year's Eve show (1999, I think). They were fucking great. There was a bunch of old rock-road crew-dogs dancing around the joint before it was over, and nobody ever would have bet on that. It was cool.

Jimi -- Thanks, bro! I'm glad to know someone else who is into the heavy stuff can also appreciate Karen Carpenter's incredible talent. And it's <i>great</i> to see Queensryche get some well-earned respect. Quick confession: I was only dimly aware of that band until three years ago, when a friend of mine insisted on playing "Operation: Mindcrime" during a drive from Wisconsin to Texas. Your assessment of that album's place in history is incontestable.

There are some amazing choices here, many of which I share -- viz. "Alone Again, Naturally" and "Crazy Horses," which I can't believe got multiple mentions. Yeah, I know, but that tune simply rocks. I might be influenced by the fact that I worked with some of the "Osmond" people and knew what they could have done if they'd been let off the leash occasionally.

"One Tin Soldier" is a pretty decent anti-war song.

Sad/hysterical story about the Righteous Brothers slip-up. What a horrible portent that proved to be.

I have three Eurovision albums on my mp3 player. Mixed in with my usual selection of black, death, thrash and power metal.

P.S. Queensryche is and has always been amazing. I will be seeing them in concert in August.

Greg N.,

The best DJ screwup at a wedding I witnessed was "And now the happy couple will dance their first dance to 'Unchained Melody'."

"You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your lips...."

Dude had flipped the single over to 'You've lost that lovin' feeling.'

The marriage was doomed.

For the record, "Man in Motion" (St. Elmo's Fire) is in no way a guilty anything. That song kicks fucking ass, and if the DJ hadn't screwed up, its the song to which the wife and I were going to enter our reception. Would've been awesome. Now I have to get divorced, then re-married to make it happen. It would almost be worth it.

Great picks on St. Elmo's Fire and Beer for my Horses!

I agree that people completely posture (and appreciate your honesty). My favorite is when people claim to know who they were reincarnated as, and surprisingly, they were royalty every time!

Sorry bud: statistically, you were a short-lived serf a hundred times.

There are a lot of things on here (from previous posters) that not only do I have, I'm not even embarrassed about.

That said, here's mine:
5. Two of Hearts - Stacey Q
4. Sex Dwarf - Soft Cell
3. The Bad Touch - Bloodhound Gang
2. Naughty Girls Need Love Too - Samantha Fox

and the nuclear option...

1. You Don't Bring Me Flowers Anymore - Babs & Neil Diamond

After reading some of these listed above...I'm going to download them.

(the only one I'll admit to is the theme from Firefly).

"Queensryche = not hair metal. Operation Mindcrime is “The Wall” of heavy metal."

Spot on. I bought that album on the way to a Metallica show in 88. Still to this day one of my favorite albums. Amazing all the way through. Now that I've geeked out on you, here are some of mine:

Eminem - The Eminem Show Album - What can I say, he's a hell of a wordsmith and Dr. Dre always brings the beats.

Usher Featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris - Yeah - Just a fun song.
