A couple of weeks ago, I upgraded from “photography hobby” to “expensive photography hobby” by purchasing the entry-level DLSR Canon Digital Rebel XTi. I really haven’t even begun to figure out all the features, but just in point-and-shoot mode, it’s pretty amazing.

I’ve got an XT and it’s great. It’s easy to use but still takes great shots. If you’re still looking to spend money, I would recommend getting a battery grip, especially if you take a lot of pictures.
Ah … pets are so easy to photograph …
Very nice shots… Last year prior to Christmas my wife and I bought a SLR-type camera from FujiFilm… It was relatively inexpensive ($300), but really takes phenomenal shots.
Enjoy it…
The Rebel is a very nice camera. I use one for work and am damned lucky to get the chance to play around with it on somebody else’s dime.
great pics- keep’em coming.
Ok…I guess this was worth the donation… : )
Nikon fanboy here but I have to say that lens takes some nice shots
Wrinkled dog brow = priceless
Love the Canons…Have the digital S2IS. Would love a Rebel or D40.
Give those dogs some jerky already.
Very cute doggies. Can we ‘sic’ them on Hayne?
By the way, where is that article you promised last week about him?
That’s a great camera. The 18mm-55mm Image Stabilized lens is great and only about $200 and is worth the price. Also, the auto white balance doesn’t work real well when you are shooting outside on cloudy days so change it to “shade” to get pictures with better color. Also, it takes great pictures at night. Just switch to P mode and change the film speed to 1600 and you can take great low-light pictures without the flash.
I agree, great camera. Purchased one before going to Germany for two weeks last year, point and shoot for beginners is great, pretty intuitive. Shouldn’t take you long to get familiar with the camera and it’s features.
