I’m pretty sure I went on some list when my daughter went to work for an NGO in Afghanistan a couple years ago. Last Christmas she married a Muslim Arab. They’re probably monitoring my keystrokes as I type. In fact, I think they’re inside my computer looking out at me right now. So I’m making making a face and flipping them the bird…

Snarky? Have you read ever actually read that blog? Most of the commentors aren’t exactly engaging in reasoned, respectful debate.

You have a point. Many of the comments were antagonistic. Citizens should be more respectful when they’re having their rights systematically abolished in the name of protecting their freedom. We should look at the bright side. At least no commentors were tased (although they have probably all been added to that watch list and will be singled out for extra harassment next time they travel).

I’m glad you picked up on the TSA buffoonery on heir blog… I post there a bunch (anonymously, since I’m paranoid, and yes I do realize they can find out who I am if they wanted), and it’s just sad.

I practically never post anonymously. Not only that, but I also post a link to my website which provides sufficient information to precisely target my house with a smart bomb without any further investigation. In fact, you can actually get a “street view” of my house on Google now.

I’m not bragging about my courage, but rather confessing to my astounding stupidity. On the other hand, not unlike you, I tend to think that the NSA computer that flags my seditious ramblings most likely attaches my real name to them with effortless ease, thanks to built-in technology designed to thwart citizens’ attempts to thwart unconstitutional domestic eavesdropping. My only protection, therefore, is the government’s seeming inability to differentiate between people of the same name, which means that someday some poor bastard is going to be kidnapped in the dead of night and shipped off to some secret prison for sins against the state of which he is completely ignorant. Hopefully he will be one of those love-it-or-leave-it patriots who tells everyone how he regrets never having been given the honor (up to then anyway) of willingly sacrificing his life for his country.
