jhc – I checked and couldn’t find numbers for Louisiana or Alabama, but Florida and Virginia are both paying their pathologists a bit more than what Mississippi is offering.

On a personal note, you couldn’t pay me enough to move to Mississippi. That is one humid fucking hellhole of a state.

Devin Bennett, Jeffrey Havard (on death row), Henry Moses, Brett Jones (age 15 when sentenced) and Henry Moses (serving life sentences) are among few of Hayne’s HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS of victims. Innocent of the crimes Steven Hayne formulated in his own warped mind and careless, unethical, unprofessional unqualified ‘opinions’.

How can we lay our heads down at night and sleep? How can we celebrate another holiday without justice for these people who languish everyday in a cell?

God bless you Radley. I pray each day the GOD gives you the strength and wisdom to continue to fight for this long overdue justice.

Well, I’d call that progress. Thanks for doing more than your share to hold Hayne accountable, Radley. For the sake of the living and dead in Mississippi, let’s hope this position is filled quickly w/ a qualified professional. The goal of a forensic practitioner (and I’m paraphrasing Barry Fisher, author of “Techniques of Crime Scene Investigation”) should be to get to the truth. Follow the evidence no matter where it leads. These investigators and scientists should not be prosecution OR defense-oriented, and should not be part of an old boy’s system, as apparently was the case w/ Dr. Hayne in MS.

Comparing Mississippi to Alaska may not be valid. A better question is: What do Alabama, Louisiana and Arkansas pay their state medical examiners?

It’s tough to get people to move to Alaska for a job (assuming they’re not natives). They have to be compensated for the remoteness and demanding conditions. This isn’t too say Alaska isn’t a great place but it is remote and does get pretty cold & dark.

Back in the early 80s, during the construction of the oil pipeline, companies were paying electronics techs 5 times the rate paid in the lower 48.
