OT: I only comment here on occasion, and I apologize for my off topic comment and the lack of a link. I don't know how to embed and I understand long links can break blogs.

But a suspect in the killing of a police officer in Prince George's County Maryland was found dead in his jail cell and it was just ruled a homicide. He was in isolation, so the murderer almost had to wear a badge of some sort while he/she strangled him.

I lived most of my live in the Baltimore-DC area, and PG County cops had a reputation and record of brutality, corruption, and racism. It was getting better lately as more African-Americans achieved county office in this DC suburb, but now, who knows?

This is sooooo bad.

It seems like this is getting quite a bit of press in Chicago. Maybe a little bad publicity will reverse some of these policies. It seems that being laughed at by the whole country helped convince them to drop the foie gras ban. Also, maybe it will get a few more people turned on to Reason.

By the way, is everybody seeing the add for the "envirolet" waterless toilet on the right of the screen? Too funny.

The Nanny State is the Chicago way? You can keep it Dan Deibert.

To many people, especially in the mainstream media just don't take the concept of liberty seriously. They just don't see we lose our liberty through incremental steps. Dan just didn't get the concept of a Constitutional Republic.

I think the "Freedom of Movement" metric should have accounted for public transportation availability. Granted, the government has to rob you at gunpoint to pay for it (hyperbole), but from a practical standpoint being able to live/visit a city without having to drive/park a car is very liberating.

(My apologies if this critique was raised in the other various comment threads at Reason and on this site related to the rankings.)
