   This reminds me of beltway libertarians against Ron Paul. Doesn’t make much sense until you follow the money…

   I’m going to start deleting any off-topic comments using the terms “Beltway libertarians” and “Ron Paul.”

   Get the hell over it. I supported Paul before the newsletter flap, and I ended up voting for him after it. I criticized him when the story came out because he participated in a cynical, unprincipled appeal to racists. My criticism didn’t have a damned thing to do with where I get my paycheck.

   First, my head is exploding. This “award” is pushing the envelope for what can be encompassed in the term “wrong”. The only taxpayer who could possibly consider Don Young to be a hero would be one sitting out at the other end of the bridge.

   Second, does anyone else find that the term “Hero of the ” remind you of WWII-era Soviet awards?

   It’s interesting, the linked site uses this opportunity to smear “right wingers” for giving Young awards. So I did a little search, putting this:

   into google. Not sure if this’ll be all clicky:

   The guy *definitely* isn’t getting any love on the right side of the aisle (unless you want to define Malkin as a centrist) – and she links to other conservative/right blogs where he’s also being trashed. Oddly, some of the reasons are that he’s not conservative enough, pushing some very liberal causes (open ballots for unionization votes, not to mention his big pork spending).

   I don’t think it’s the conservatives who are bestowing awards on him, might be wrong but it would make sense to follow the money on these organizations that love him so.
