Five-Star Fridays: New Orleans Edition
Friday, June 20th, 2008I’m in New Orleans this weekend to speak to Louisiana’s post-conviction public defenders, and to do some reporting on (yet) another Dr. Hayne case. So this week’s tune is the Big Easy-themed “Feels Like Rain,” from John Hiatt’s wonderful 1994 album Walk On.

Welcome to New Orleans, Radley! Be sure to do the favorite pastime of us locals and grab some good food. Fridays we usually go for seafood. Fried, boiled, any way you like it. (It may be a little out of the way, but just on the other side of the 17th Street Canal, where one of the main canal breeches occured during Katrina, there are a collection of restaurants in what we call Bucktown that tend to be pretty good for seafood.) If you’re here on Monday, then we traditionally eat Red Beans and Rice on what used to be “wash day”. See we even have traditions built around food. No wonder Louisiana weighs in as one of the heftier states. :/
At any rate, I hope it isn’t all work for you and you get to enjoy at least some of the great variety of things this city has to offer.
we’re gonna see Hiatt next month at the Pageant in St. Louis- great choice for 5 star Fridays!
Hi Radley! I am there in spirit with you. Thank you so much for fighting for truth and justice. Devin, Jeff and many others truly appreciate your diligence, tenacity and fortitude.
