The Further Adventures of Sheriff Joe
Thursday, June 12th, 2008Sheriff Joe Arpaio don’t need no stinkin’ Bill of Rights.
Sheriff Joe’s continuing, bumbling efforts to shut up his critics are nothing if not entertaining. Kudos to the Phoenix New Times for their continued antagonizing.

Yeah, the Phoenix New Times is quickly becoming one of my favorite newspapers. They’ve done some really exceptional work about Arpaio’s thoroughly corrupt and incompetent department.
I was thinking… that Arpaio is a tyrant is well known… but what must his kids be like?
*Shudder*
Bectha a Krispy Kreme that those goons were high-fiving and slap-assing each other back at the department about how they showed up that puny reporter.
Wonder if they sport Death Dealer Ts…hmmm.
This kind of local rule-by-ruthless-intimidation is bound to spread and grow nationwide as the federals become more preoccupied with the war on terror. Thankfully, the kind of local corruption so common in other countries could never happen here.
Bunch of pussies trying to act out their high school fantasies. I wouldn’t be surprised if they lunged towards the reporter to see if they could make him flinch, and then said “Sick burn, that’s what I thought”.
I’d love it if someone planted smack or crystal meth on “Sheriff Joe” and watch him try to explain it away. But then, I’m evil.
The guy is a major douche. The New Times is pretty much the only local press taking on Arpaio. He is a petty tyrant and no one wants to get in his crosshairs because he will fuck you six ways from Sunday if you get on his shit list. That’s how much power he has there. All the more kudos to the folks at the Times for fighting the good fight . . .
But, but… that would make us just like them.
That’s what I love about cops. They can talk all the shit they want and you so much as pass offending wind and you’ll end up with a ticket or charge to fight.
Yep. You see it all the time. On youtube videos, cop shows, movies, etc. Whether you get arrested has a lot to do with your deference than it does about whether your did anything to deserve arrest. It takes raw brazen courage these days just to risk being caught photographing a cop in action. It doesn’t take much deliberation to know that you can avoid a lot of legal bills and harassment by simply keeping your cell phone in your pocket when you see some cop abusing an innocent citizen…
Like I said, Dave, I’m evil. EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhh…… to see Sheriff Joe…… walking through the streets of Tuscon…….
wearing chrome-plated handcuffs, leg irons….. and frilly pink underwear.
That would be the epitome of justice.
Davidson County, N.C. had a clown for a ’sheriff’ once upon a time. You may have heard of him. Gerald K. Hege. He drove the ’spider car’, carried a BIG STICK (similar to Buford Pusser), suited his gestapo up with all black uniforms and call then TEAM 101, painted the jail cells Pepto Bismal Pink with blue teddy bears, pranced around like a pround rooster and even had a show on Court TV called Cell Block H. Heck he even sold his own brand of BBQ sauce…
What an idiot and embarrassment to all LEO’s and the community he was supposed to represent.
Eventually he was a convicted FELON himself. Seems Mr. Hege couldn’t keep his hand out of the piggy bank.
Arpaio will fall on his fat ass one day and will be serving his time in one of his own hot desert tents and wearing pink bloomers.
Now that will be a KODAK moment!
The really depressing thing about Arpaio is that his position is elected. Why do the people of Maricopa County keep returning him to office? I worry about what it means that guys like this can get elected.
I know someone from that county who thinks this guy is awesome. I suspect the county is filled with idiots.
As a Phoenix native (52 years) I’ve seen Arapaio from the beginning.
He is absolutely a criminal and should be in his own jail.
Why the people of this county, not to mention some PROMINENT politicians like our gov’ner Janet Napolitano (mentioned somewhat lightly as a possible VP pick for Obama) would re-elect and align themselves with this despicable human being are beyond me.

[...] is from Illinois. See how that works? So the next time Phoenix Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s thugs harass reporters? Totally John McCain’s [...]
At Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, we’ve tried to debate Sheriff Joe on several occasions. He smugly turns it down every time and the local media always let him get away with it. Glad to see that the Phoenix New Times is stepping up.
