“Death Dealer?”
Friday, June 6th, 2008Bullet-50 is a company that sells street clothes to off-duty and undercover police officers. For example, they specialize in clothes that make it easier to carry a concealed gun. Bullet-50 was founded by Officer Joseph Salazar, who is also still a cop with the San Francisco Police Department. It looks as if the company markets exclusively to police officers. No problem so far. Seems like a good idea.
I wonder, though what the hell they’re thinking with this t-shirt, which is for sale on the Bullet-50 website:
TheAgitator.com

The “Thug Hunter” shirt is as bad, if not worse, than that one. But both are idiotic.
Radley *please* don’t accuse these guys of thinking, I’m sure it’s quite insulting to them.
Surprised a “Kill ‘em all, let God sort ‘em out” T-shirt isn’t also in their inventory.
Grown adults pretending to be pre-teen boys in a backyard. Professionalism, my ass.
Someone needs to submit a shirt with Chinese characters on it that translates to “Compensating for a small penis and low IQ”. Put some explosions and a face being stomped on, in order to make it attractive to them.
Dude I want to get a few of these.
They look great and if stopped while wearing one they may think I’m a blue boy and cut me some slack.
It would be like impersonating a donut eater, without actually doing so.
LMAO…”Death Dealer”….heh heh. And the vast majority of cops that buy these things should have, “Professional Ticket Writer” and “Glorified Crossing Guard” emblazoned on them…..
#4 Frank N Stein’s idea is right on the money also.
Other suggestions….”Former High School Bully…Now a Bully with a Gun.”
“The Law doesn’t apply to me…only to you.”
“Cops….shooting Americans because we can.”
“My son went to the Gun Show and all I got was this lousy T-shirt!”
“I’m wearing this shirt to let you know that I’m a cop in case you didn’t notice the lack of a bulge in my pants.”
“I have no friends…so I became a cop”
“When you have a dick this small….you BETTER carry a gun”
“I would shoot my own mother if the Captain told me to”
“Because I Can!”
#5 I’ve had the same curiosity with regard to the “thin blue line” stickers that police put on their personal vehicles. Not sure if this is common knowledge, but if you look around you’ll find these stickers are pretty common. They are used as a sly way for an on duty cop to identify an off duty cop and to extend professional courtesy without words. (http://66.128.49.139/images/thinblueline.jpg)
Not sure what’s to stop the general public from putting these on their cars other than concern over what might happen if they are found out.
Ever get the feeling that some cops jack off to Judge Dredd?
I just can’t see the logic behind this:
“It looks as if the company markets exclusively to police officers. No problem so far.”
It’s a freakin’ shirt, for crying out loud, and I have a permit to carry concealed. Why can’t I get one? While private industry should be able to pick and choose their clients, it would seem that doing so in this case only serves to further alienate LE from the lowly citizenry.
Wayne, I don’t think they won’t sell to you. I think the marketing that Radley’s talking about is that they put ads and such in places where cops will see them, and don’t worry about ads anywhere else. If you find their site and buy things, they’ll probably take your money and send you the merchandise, but they weren’t necessarily spending money to get you to their store.
Paramilitarization of Police…
Radley Balko wonders why a catalog selling off duty noveltywear to police officers is doing selling “Death Dealer” t-shirts.
It’s just another sign, I’m afraid, of the paramilitarization of our police forces. Cops have long em…
well, i don’t know about any of you, but i JUST CAN’T WAIT to see everyone wearing these shirts at the next PAL event.
this is nothing to be ashamed of right?
so when Officer Friendly is up on stage with Little Timmy and they’re talking about how cops are our friends, … Friendly and all of the other Boys in Blue will be wearing their “DEATH DEALER” T-shirts, right?
What does a San Francisco cop do in his spare time?
Why, he’s a fashion designer, of course! … *snicker*
I find it pathetic that 3 of the 5 “comments” on the site are about how well they stood up in some “drug operation” or other, one from a joint ICE/DEA op. You can’t tell me that police orgs don’t get both funding and jollys from busting a bunch of “dope heads”. Just sad.

So Radley do you support legislation against bad taste? Or do you think these shirts say something about the mindset of the people buying them?
So Radley do you support legislation against bad taste?
No.
Or do you think these shirts say something about the mindset of the people buying them?
Bingo.
I wonder if cops wearing that shirt will be permitted on airliners.

The shirts do say something about the people buying them. First, it says that whoever is wearing them has a high probability of being armed. Also, the person has a high probability of being a police officer, Ergo, the shirts blow the cover of undercover policemen.
The shirts are not just in poor taste, but potentially hazardous to the wearer.

This has been going on for a long. I remember, when I first got involved in marijuana legalization in the early 1990s, seeing a number of these shirts in an ad from one of those cop magazines. (One of our members had a subscription, which he did not pay for, that he maintained under the aegis of “know thine enemy.”)
If cops keep insisting on seeing lawabiding citizens as potential enemies, does it surprise us that the Bush administration keeps seeing terrorists popping up everywhere? Especially when their actions create that effect? I’m afraid that, even with a change of administration, it won’t be long before “Papers please!” will be even more commonplace than it is now. And perhaps a civil war to follow.
as a firefighter, I gotta say that I get every conceivable novelty shirt, etc as a gift. many of the shirts are not in the best of taste- the ‘big johnson’ shirts with the hose as the fireman’s penis, etc are not the most professional. They come in handy for camping and goofing off, though.
I’m not defending asshat behavior, but… these are just shirts. I’d be willing to bet a fair amount of them are bought as gifts or novelty items, not as penis reinforcers.
as to the clowns who subscribe to the attitude the shirts present, please continue heckling them!
Andrew Williams-
Interesting point I thought of when you mentioned your friend subscribing to a cop magazine- a cop I bumped into a few months swears that there are people putting together databases based on mail received- gun magazines raise flags, drug and music magazines raise flags, etc. I’m not sure how true this is, but it sounds plausible.
We should probably all be subscribing to cop magazines and better homes and gardens if this is true!
And the Law Enforcement community is perplexed as to why a growing number of their fellow citizens are regarding them as an occupying army carrying out the dictates of a increasingly more tyrannical government.
They’re dressing like and acting like an occupying military force and they’ve fully adopted a military mindset. They’ve become a standing army among the people. A more intolerable standing army among the people than British Regulars ever were.
Not that a military mindset or military tactics or military organization is a bad thing. It’s a great thing – for the military. They need a no holds barred warrior attitude that glorifies killing and the arts of war. They are to commended for becoming dangerous killing machines. That’s a great and necessary thing. The police however are not the military. They’re suppose to be peace officers. Civilians. When they adopt military customs and mentality they become an occupying army among the people and an instrument of tyranny.
Most telling, perhaps, is that cops call non-cops “civilians.”
“… you should have seen their faces after flashing my badge and putting a Glock in their face.”

Uh… wow.
And yes, it was a drug bust. You’re shocked. I can tell.
