I Want My CCTV
Monday, May 12th, 2008The Get Out Clause, an unsigned Manchester band who could not afford a camera crew for their video, ‘performed’ in front of a load of CCTV cameras, requested the footage from the camera operators under the Data Protection Act and then stitched the results together for their music video.
Here’s the result:

Everytime i hear of the video cameras in England I think of the Alan Parson’s song, “Eye In The Sky”
This is the most useful application for big brother’s surveillance cameras I’ve heard of yet. Sadly, they’ll probably be charged with something.
Great idea. Too bad the band sucks.
At least they are allowed to request copies of government surveillance video. They refuse FOIA requests for the release of public video evidence here in Seattle.
About time someone found a use for those cameras.
#3.
agree, It is a great idea but the song sucks
glad to see someone came up with a clever use for 800 million dollars (or whatever the bottom line cost of the camera system) worth of video gear.
Hey! I actually beat the Agitator to a topic!

(Ow! I just hurt my arm trying to pat myself on the back.)
The song doesn’t suck any worse than any other example of its genre today.
And Packratt, if you check out the news article linked from my blog post you’ll note that many of the cameras were not government installations but corporate ones. But even with that they were refused by something like 75% of the sites.
