Even when everything goes “right”–not shots are fired, the police hit the house they’re looking for, they find some drugs–is this really an appropriate use of such violent, confrontational tactics? To rough up some small time pot offenders?
So who would you rather arrest: clueless college kids who won’t fight back or violent gang bangers? Who would you rather take on: violent drug gangs or some dumb religious cult? just like in the wild it is always easiest to go after the weakest member of the herd.
The really embarrassing part of it is how proud the members of the SWAT team will be concerning their big 2 ounce drug bust.
Ever watch “Cops”? Ever notice how they all get the swollen chest because 8 of them have arrested some shoeless and shirtless guy who had one rock and a couple of ten dollar bills in his pocket?
It can be frighteningly amusing.
I guess they’re tired of facing the violent resistance of medical marijuana cancer patients??
but hey… it’s fun to dress up, play Jack Bauer, grab those super cool toys, put on your next generation GI Joe outfit and save society from itself. Another premeditated deciscion to add violent variables where they need not exist. Accountability will be a long time in coming but one day, when a senators relative is killed, it may change.

Is there one intelligent person on the face of the earth who can argue with a staright face that *cops playing with their toys* is not a significant motivating factor in the deployment and proliferation of SWAT teams?
$50 says some of these guys were wearing eye-black or face paint and listened to “Bawitdaba” by Kid Rock to get ‘pumped up’ before they hopped in the truck. Jagoffs.
