Outstanding column…I completely agree with the ideas you’ve put forth.
“We shouldn’t allow every aggrieved defendant to sue his prosecutor.”
Well, sure, if we didn’t allow every aggrieved prosecutor to sue a defendant…
Nicely put.
More pure evil is done by vigilante prosecutors than any other element of the Criminal Justice system, including crooked cops and stupid judges.
Well done. It seems that bizarre that prosecutorial actions that are patently fraudulent are still subject to immunity.
This should bring in some good e-mail :)
A prosecutor’s mission is not about truth and justice, but only to
administer the most vicious attack possible with the least amount of effort. When it comes to the law, even the courts can’t save you from a prosecutor. Regardless of the verdict, your life is going to be destroyed and no one is going to care.
Sovereign Immunity and qualified immunity are concepts that need to be completely eliminated from the legal lexicon of this nation. Too many bad government actors are allowed to hide behind the concepts.
