You really have to wonder about cops who take their children on drug raids. The fact that the other officers allowed them to, bring the kids, is also alarming. I wonder why the officer in charge is not being disciplined ?

So if one of the kids on the raid was injured, who gets charged with it?

J sub D is right - that's a money quote from the article. At the very least, any non-PD parent bringing their child into a dangerous situation would have a county social worker assigned to check the child's welfare. For the PD not to at least issue a reprimand and an order to desk duty for a few weeks - a light slap on the hand - is really unconscionable.

A SWAT raid is no place for anyone other than the PD and the alleged perps. Too much lead can fly.

The money quote -
The two officers who brought their children on the raid will not be disciplined.
The mind reels.

Kid : "Dad, do you raid drug dealing thugs and arrest them?"
Dad: "Yep."
Kid: "Just like on TV?"
Dad: "Yep."
Kid: "Prove it."

A modern day version of the Hitlerjugen?

Come, son, lets go out and bust a few wrong doors and terrorize innocent people. Feel the power than Daddy's job gives him over other people. Understand why Dad is a "special person."

Perfect, just perfect.

We're supposed to need these SWAT teams to conduct raids in dangerous situations, but clearly, these officers are so used to these raids not being violent that they felt comfortable taking their children along.

Just a perfect example of the mindset that has the potential for the disasters Radley's reported time and time again- SWAT officers not understanding the real consequences of armed assaults on private citizens.

the height of irony- if children would've been living in the house, they would've been taken because of the situation, BUT... cops voluntarily bring their young children to 'bring your kids to work week' instead of hiring a babysitter and that's ok...
