Wednesday, March 26th, 2008Check this: A slavemaker queen fakes death, allowing itself to be carried into an enemy nest. There, it then rips their queen apart, coats itself in the bits left over, then immediately starts pumping out soldier eggs. The locals then raise their own enslaving army to maturity.
The new 100 percent soldier-baby society pretty rapidly runs out of locals, so they mount expeditions to break into other nests, bite the locals in half and steal their eggs. This is a species for whom murdering parents and enslaving the children is genetically programmed.
Nah. Congress is still worse.

Those dogs are lucky that jag didn’t tear them a new one…
So glad the hunters didn’t kill the jag. Beautiful, magnificent animal.
There are many of us out there, that still hunt, and, don’t find the sense in killing a jaguar, fox, songbird, etc. I was brought up that if you killed it, you ate it! But, who in their right mind would kill such a beautiful cat?! Cudos to the hunter, again!
The dogs are lucky they weren’t dinner.
There’s actually a very rare video of a jaguar from the same area:

Amazing video Michael Chaney!
I was on the verge of mentioning it myself - until I saw you had beaten me to the punch. Fantastic, Rare find!
[...] Earlier I pointed out some cool bug-on-bug killing. This post is something of a sequel, as Balko points out an even more vicious species. [...]
Those jaguar pix have been in the Orvis catalogs for the last couple years, as well as information about the organization dedicated to their preservation.
Radley has posted great links to a lot of outrageous behavior by cops, but in that whiskey clip I saw a lot of intentional provocation. I’m not sure why folks marching for a free tibet would find it necessary to provoke people who would probably be on their side of the debate, it certainly doesn’t help their cause.
