I'm sure that the vast majority of the ronpaul2008.com supporters will go back to dKos. The Ron Paul supporters that are left will do what they have always done.

And I wouldn't discount Flake on name alone. I said 2 years ago that a guy whose first name rhymes with Osama and whose middle name was Hussain would never get anywhere in national politics, and I have been proven wrong on that.

Dave,

So, I’ve given up and decided to dedicate the rest of my life to booze and women.

Way ahead of you...I've also decided to help save the economy not by voting for smart politicians to implement good policy but by becoming a frivolous consumer of products for immediate gratification. Starting with a 2008 Dodge Challenger :)

While I hate to be even more depressing than normal, I'm reading a book called "The True Believer" by Eric Hoffer. From what I've gathered so far, any movement that values individualism is not likely to be able to compete successfully against other more traditional mass movements that rely on more emotional (patriotic or religious) and collective (everything for the cause) motivations.

A close friend of mine who's an uber-GOPer come-hell-or-high-water insists that the Ron Paul explosion is almost completely comprised of what he calls "antiwar blame-America wackos" who have absolutely no interest in, or knowledge about Rep. Paul's libertarian domestic policy positions. Not having gotten myself as involved on Rep. Paul's side as he continually does for the GOP in general, all I personally have to rebut that claim is the anecdotal evidence of myself, my dad (who re-registered from Libertarian to GOP in Nevada so he could vote for Rep. Paul in the primary) - and for both of us domestic policy trumps foreign policy by a landslide - and the small-l libertarian blogs I read, which tend to have a domestic-policy-heavy slant.

In short, I hope he's dead wrong, but I do admit that he put some fear in me that he might be closer to being right than any Agitator readers would like (myself included).
