I’m in a town nearby to Lima now and folks do seem to be angry. The local paper noted though that the officer is on PAID administrative leave now, which is re-dic.

Yet another example of why the re-legalization of drugs is warranted.

Actually, this sounds simila to an incident that happened in Henderson Nevada (suburb of Las Vegas). Now that is a police force that knows how to abuse and get away with it.

Its a city worth looking into.

And the new DEA show, on SPIKE, will show us what the “heroes” are doing in drug raids!? My bet is there will not be any wrong door raids, or any raids that result in the death, or injury, of any, apparently innocent, bystanders! More government propaganda via MSM!!?

You guys are all a little confused. A cop on a drug raid, is a hero by definition, so we should all be stunned that any charges were brought at all. Secondly, you weren’t there so you shouldn’t be second-guessing the cops. Maybe the baby looked like a gun. Maybe the baby belched and it sounded like a shot. Maybe the cop thought the baby was wielding a gun and the mother was just an unfortunate victim of legitimate self-defense. Innocent civilians have to expect this kind of thing if they hang around drug users. They need to take responsibility for their lives and stop being poor and black.

According to an on-line copy of Ohio’s Code, there are three options.

2903.04. Involuntary manslaughter.
(A) No person shall cause the death of another or the unlawful termination of another’s pregnancy as a proximate result of the offender’s committing or attempting to commit a felony.

2903.041. Reckless homicide.
(A) No person shall recklessly cause the death of another or the unlawful termination of another’s pregnancy.

2903.05. Negligent homicide.
(A) No person shall negligently cause the death of another or the unlawful termination of another’s pregnancy by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance as defined in section 2923.11 of the Revised Code.

Of course, he’s plead not guilty. I wonder what his defense will be. Will he claim that someone else shot her? Or will he claim justifiable homicide of an unarmed woman encumbered with an infant?

On the surface, I thought negligent homicide would be the proper indictment. Hmmm. However, we all know if the situation was reversed (cop dead), there would be capital murder charges.
But I also thought negligent homicide means that the officer failed to act (negligence). This should be something more of manslaughter (no malice or intent) or even 2nd degree murder. I think the DA may be pulling a fast one as the charge gets tossed later on….

I am very concerned information about the raid isn’t public. That means they are busy hammering out a story. That also means some officers are not playing along, perhaps. We’ll see, I hope.
