Oh, Happy Day.

Monday, March 10th, 2008

May your fall be steep and severe, governor.

Sweet, sweet karmic justice. Now, let’s all watch as a man who rose to power and fame by railroading people on ridiculous charges himself get tripped up by a dumb, unjust law.

I’ll get the popcorn. This one is going to be fun.

MORE: To borrow from this Hit & Run comment, I nominate the following for tomorrow’s NY Post headline: “Prostitute Admits Link to Eliot Spitzer; Resigns From Escort Service in Disgrace”

MORE II: Fox News is reporting Spitzer will resign . . . and has been indicted.

Why does it seem that those who crow the loudest are always neck deep in the very activities they publicly decry?

Bush is outbound, Spitzer in an ethics scandal. Now, Radley, you just need Tom Brady to blown an ACL, Ron Paul to surge ahead, and your year is made.

Just checked the NYT front page, saw the headline and thought “SWEET!” and made a bee-line to The Agitator to bask in the glory.

I have been in a terrible mood today until this news.

    Brilliant.

    From the Boston Globe:

    “N.Y. governor Spitzer issues apology

New York Governor Eliot Spitzer cryptically responded to rumors of his involvement in a prostitution ring this afternoon by apologizing to his family and the public, although he didn’t specify what the apology was for.”

Using the old Jason Giambi technique, how New York of him !!! HA HA !!! rofl rofflmao

I despise this man and want him to be brought low, but the horny Mann act?

To me this is like they found where he kept his pot stash or if he had an honestly owned gun in violation of his state’s laws. Not something that should be illegal in the first place, therefore there should not be any wiretaps or Feds involved.

On the other hand he was a hypocrite on the issue so that this is exactly how he should have been taken out, this or some sort of stock swindle.

Warren - The fact that he’s being prosecuted for something that shouldn’t be illegal is why it’s perfect. If he was a prosecutor who’d only prosecuted people for legitimate crimes with actual victims he wouldn’t be nearly as despised.

    Hey everyone,

I don’t know much about Spitzer…what did he do to deserve so much Lib hatred? In any case, I always love to watch politicians go down for stupid s***.

Yeah, why the hate? I looked over his Wikipedia entry and didn’t notice anything outstanding. Took down the Gambinos, at least part of the crime syndicate. Mis-used the state police, it seems. Don’t see what you are talking about concerning trumped up charges. Looks like he went after a lot of corporate America, for better or worse. Seems to be rather smart (ok, Escorts aren’t necessarily wise in the political world, but at least he didn’t use AAAAA Escorts (usually the first ones in the phone book)) but somewhat power hungry and power-abusive, but that is par for the course.
    How about some insight, Radley…..

All I want to know is: why is the Fed investigating prostitutes? Are they terrorist prozzies? Were the ladies doing business across state lines? Is whom we shag a matter of homeland security? Christ, what a waste of federal tax dollars. I thought all politicians were sleeping with escorts. We need wiretaps for this? Silly me. I reserve comment on Mr. Spitzer for a later time…

Jay: They were, in fact, doing business across state lines, which is the charge Spitzer will supposedly be indicted for.

I would start with Congestion Pricing, as being one of the more idiotic things he has gone for and he went after the prostitution rings when he was A.G., so I love that he is being busted for the same thing that he was zealous to go after. His “fucking” steamroller quote was also quite humourous. The only good thing, is that this was one short term for the govenor. LOL

    What’s wrong with him?

Aside from being another attorney governor, here are a couple of links to get you started.

    http://www.stephenbainbridge.com/punditry/comments/was_eliot_spitzer_a_john/

    http://www.coyoteblog.com/coyote_blog/2008/03/stranger-than-f.html

From a former classmate of his at Princton.

Oh and expand and read all the links, this is quite a feller.

Oh the fun of watching club members rise on a rocket to the heavens and flail as their flaming jets dive into the ground!

Caught a comment, Spitzer, dedicated to clean up prostitutes of NY, one or maybe two at a time!

His Bride, or might that be soon to be X-Bride sure don’t look too happy. She should have let him stand there alone.

Lest we not forget he is a Democrat, and an Attorney! Just another shining example of morals and ethics from the club? Yeah.

    Warren,

You have to admit that regardless of how you feel about prostitution, it’s always funny to see a collectivist hoisted on his or her own petard. Spitzer has made a career for himself out of being a busybody, and so I for one won’t shed any tears if he is impaled on the very blade he has cut down so many people with for no good reason.

This is why I supported removing Clinton from office. He committed perjury, and deserved to go down for it. Political motivations don’t justify giving immunity, when a little guy would have been fried for the same offense.

Oh, I am enjoying it. And I hope it goes further. I hope he was using his power to shield this club while at the same time busting the others. That would mean some serious time. I also hope to find other, prominent, collectivist parasites are involved and are brought down.

The only thing I can agree with the other posters on is that he’s a hypocrite. Did he lie about it though, for fact? Then bust him. Personally, I don’t care who anyone is boinking as long as they aren’t stealing my money and they are throwing the book at those who do. That’s between him and his wife. Or the policeman he’s going to try playing footsie with under the stall doors.
I mean, hoorah, how the mighty fall, but do you REALLY care about someone else’s sex life THAT much? Maybe this isn’t the right site to be visiting? There’s a whole lot of f/off and leave me to my business on this one.

I personally feel that the prostitution laws are absurd and backwards. With that said, I feel that Elliot Spitzer is now getting what he sowed so heavily these past years. He built his career on grandstanding in the press, trying cases in the press, vilifying people in the press, and charging people with frivolous charges. Yeah, I know he won so many cases, but seriously ask yourself if Spitzer had not utilized the bully pulpit of the press, would he seriously have won these cases? Additionally, think about the name of the last DA you knew so well? Seriously, I rarely know who the US Attorney General is half the time and I feel I am well informed.

In the end, the same mechanisms Spitzer used to win his cases will now be used against him. I don’t think Spitzer will get jail time, but watching him fall from grace/office as others such as Nifong will serve as a lesson to other zealots.
