Five-Star Fridays
Friday, February 29th, 2008“20th Century Man,” by the Kinks…
I was born in a welfare state
Ruled by bureaucracy
Controlled by civil servants
And people dressed in gray
Got no privacy; got no liberty
‘Cause the twentieth century people
Took it all away from me.
Don’t wanna get myself shot down
By some trigger happy policeman,
Gotta keep a hold on my sanity
I’m a twentieth century man but I don’t wanna die here.

Ya gotta Love the Kinks.
Great song, great lyrics. The snippet Radley quoted is featured in this Ron Paul youtube video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=4EpBuZiTFX8
Five-Star Fridays rock!
good to know i’m not the only one who feels he was born 100 years too late. of course, the kinks guys don’t *really* mean that, or if they do, they just haven’t thought it through properly.
100 years ago, there were no groupies.
Ray Davies’ new album has a good song with a similar sentiment called “No One Listen”.
