What’s scary is asking the question “could they be cops anyway”. They didn’t have guns holstered, that might be the tipping point, but you see what I’m after.
Chris, citizens aren’t scared, they are pissed off. What’s perceived as disrespect isn’t, it’s called exercising our rights, and that bothers a lot of badge flashing bullies.

It’s interesting that criminals are learning home invasion techniques from the police. What’s next, covering up evidence and lying in court to protect their fellow criminals?

From the news story:

“I didn’t want to buck him,” Mr. Wyatt said. “I was just going to let him do whatever he was going to do, and leave.”

Isn’t that what we citizen nothings are supopsed to do? To do otherwise gets us killed if they turn out to be non-criminal-cops.

Of course,if we defend ourselves against criminal activity and they turn out to be cops, we get 1st degree murder….

Because it shows how easy it is for criminal intruders to impersonate police to get into your home. Which, during a raid, puts homeowners in even more of a predicament when trying to determine if the men raiding are cops or criminals–even when they say they’re cops.

I’m not sure what your point was in linking this. Even if police nationwide were to de-militarize and start respecting citizens’ rights, a scam like this one in Dallas could still occur. Perhaps if citizens weren’t so afraid to be seen to be disrespecting an officer’s Authori-tah, victims would be more willing to ask for proper ID and verification before letting a fake cop into their house.

But, unfortunate though this incident is, it was nonviolent, so I don’t see how it plays in the argument against militarization of police.
