Is there any question that the a nanny state and police state are result in such laws? I thought alcohol prohibition ended years ago! The law makes as much sense as Mr Anslinger did in his antics in the 1930's!

I'm pretty sure I can get Port wine at any grocery store, wine shop, and restaurant in VA, as well as the state run liquor stores. Port is a mixture of wine and either cognac or brandy, clearly a violation.

Guess I'm heading to VA any time soon. Only wine I drink is Port. Which would be illegal under this law.

Sangria doesn't necessarily require brandy, although some recipes do use it. Sangria recipes in Spain are like Uncle Jim's chili recipe in Texas...family secrets.

And a boilermaker is beer and whiskey, not wine. Does the law prohibit mixing beer and spirits as well? How about beer and wine? (A black velvet is Guinness and champagne.)

My mistake...the above should read that they are the byproduct of such an illegal union. My apologies for any confusion...
