Coolidge’s lack of energy — he slept eleven hours out of the day — would fit right in with Fred. Small wonder we limited-government types would like them both.

“One of the greatest favors that can be bestowed upon the American people is economy in government.”

Silent Cal was indeed one of the best Presidents this nation has ever had, along with Harding, Cleveland and van Buren. Nobody remembers them because they did almost nothing, which is what made them great. The Presidents we remember now and are celebrated by historians were the ones who presided over wars and expansion of federal/executive power. They cannot hold a candle to Cal.

The late David Brudnoy used to write in Coolidge when he wasn’t voting for Libertarians.
