Look like the reason for the raid really was the extra $5 organizers were charging players, which they were using to buy refreshments. That was the difference between a legal poker gathering and a guns-drawn police raid.
Pretty absurd.
Absurd distinctions are what most of the “vice” crimes are all about.
Thank god for watchful neighbors and police who rescued those poor unwitting victims from being robbed of their life savings $5 at a time. The entire community should be able to sleep a lot easier knowing that their neighborhood has been liberated from the iron grip of a corrupt gambling ring. Let’s hear it for those heroic law enforcement officers who, selflessly bursting in with guns drawn, willingly put their lives on the line every day to protect us from this brutal merciless evil.
