David Albo Gets Back to the Important Business of Making David Albo Rich

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

The Northern Virginia legislator has introduced a new bill that would stiffen the penalties for people caught driving without a driver’s license, or driving with a license that’s been suspended.

Not mentioned in the article linked above is the fact that David Albo is a partner in one of the largest law firms in the D.C. area that specializes in people facing steep traffic penalties. Not coincidentally, David Albo’s legislative career is chock full of bills he has sponsored or co-sponsored that jack up the penalties for the full range of traffic violations, including last year’s odious bill instituting “fees” on violators of routine traffic laws in the thousands of dollars.

David Albo seems to spend an inordinate amount of time passing laws that benefit David Albo’s law firm.

Here’s a tip for Virginia legislators: Instead of continually passing laws aimed at fining, jailing, or restricting the driving rights of your constituents, why not pass laws that make life a little easier on them? For example, how about practicing a little oversight, and cleaning up Virginia’s utterly incompetent Department of Motor Vehicles? The agency is a complete joke.

Well, with the introduction of the Patriot act, no one can get a license without a certified copy of a birth certificate. I got mine easily form California, but it has been six month since my wife has been trying to get hers form Arkansas, and it still is not here yet! She has no choice but to drive with her expired license or have me drive her when I am available. She cannot get a replacement until she gets the certified copy of her birth certificate. If she gets fined right now, I am going to be p-ssed!! Great ideas!!.. You think they were working for Ford (the car company)?
