Paul Excluded After All?

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

So it now looks like Ron Paul is being excluded from the New Hampshire Fox News debate.

Pretty lame if true.

“We report, you decide” ~Fox slogan

    Fuck Fox.

The treatment of Paul by various Fox commentators, Hannity’s a vry good example, is nothing short of ridiculous. One would think that, in the November election, he’d vote for Clinton or Obama rather than Paul.

Persona, you’ve got it right. I have been appalled by Hannity’s treatment of Paul. Hannity has drooled over Guilliani since day one and has tried to write off Paul. Now though, in Iowa, Guilliani is barely polling as well as Paul, and New Hampshire hasn’t even happened yet.

Hannity is a chickenhawk, and Paul is happy to call him on it.

You write for them, Radley. You’re in a position to do something (even if it’s not terribly effective). Write about it on their site, or refuse to write for them. They don’t have any reasoning behind it other than a desire to narrow the scope of the debate.

    Help us out, Radley!

Lame is a bit of an understatement Radley don’t you think? How about downright criminal?! We have no democratic process here, yet we try to export “democracy” somehow? Laughable. This whole country has become one big clusterfuck. That nice little orange ribbon you have at the top of your page stating “Support Dissent” is cute. Too bad real dissent is not tolerated in Amerika.

This will backfire on Fox and only embolden Ron Paul supporters even more.

    We Distort. You Comply.

Too bad we can’t bust Murdoch for disrupting an election…

    1) I get paid a modest sum to write a biweekly column for the website, which has very little interaction with the TV channel. In other words, I have no clout at Fox whatsoever.

    2) There’s nothing “criminal” about what Fox is doing. They’re a private corporation. They can invite whomever they want to their debate. Others are free to disagree with them, write and say nasty things about them, or even boycott their advertisers. But they don’t even use the public airwaves. So there’s nothing extra-legal about them deciding to exclude Paul. And I’m sure Ron Paul would be the first one to agree with me.

Every one please help and boycott fox sponsors. Contact companies whose advertisements you see on Fox and tell them you will no longer buy their product as long as they continue advertising on Rupert Murdoch’s networks and explain why.

I’m not pretending that there’s any specific thing that you could do that would change this decision, I’m just saying that there are people with far less clout than you who are doing what little they can to express their displeasure through a boycott. Just throwing it out there. I’d boycott them, but I’ve never watched in the first place, so it really wouldn’t mean a whole lot. :-)

This is a press release from the NH GOP, who as I understand it, got a TON of phone calls and emails over the weekend:

NH REPUBLICANS: DON’T LIMIT DEBATE PARTICIPANTS

CONCORD – New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen releases the following statement regarding primary weekend debates:

“Limiting the number of candidates who are invited to participate in debates is not consistent with the tradition of the first in the nation primary. The level playing field requires that all candidates be given an equal opportunity to participate – not just a select few determined by the media prior to any votes being cast.”

“Therefore, the New Hampshire Republican Party calls upon all media organizations planning pre-primary debates or forums for both parties to include all recognized major candidates in their events.”

“The New Hampshire Republican Party has notified FOX News of our position, and we are in ongoing discussions with FOX News about having as many candidates as possible participate in the forum scheduled for January 6.”

A good angle to take with Fox is to contact their local affiliates. Not the news department, the MARKETING folks. (News hounds are paid by the hour, these folks work on commission!~)

Just a simple, polite note will do. Something to the effect of, “Are you ready for a boycott of your local advertisers?

    We are…

    Sincerely,
    The Ron Paul Revolution
