  • Your weepy dog loyalty story of the day.
  • Can you imagine what might have happen to a company that scrubbed its computers while under investigation by Elliott Spitzer when he was state attorney general? What a power-drunk phony this guy is.
  • Ah, a markets in everything moment.
  • Britain may be rising up against the surveillance state. ‘Bout damned time. Cameras in the U.K. have already exceeded the point of parody.
  • Here’s the NY Times on the “we just pulled you over to give you a small gift for your excellent driving” nonsense that seems to happen in a couple of towns every holiday season.
  • Okay, so Mike Huckabee is now officially scary. Where are the calls on the right for him to return the money he has accepted from people who want to return to the age of stoning women? And let’s draw an important line of distinction, here. Ron Paul unknowingly took a small check from a guy who turned out to be a white supremacist. Huckabee knowingly and willingly spoke at a fundraising event hosted by a bunch of Neanderthals.
  • If there are drugs available that can make you smarter and more productive with few side effects, why wouldn’t you take them? That there would even be any debate over this is pretty silly, and symptomatic of a weird pharmacological phobia in this country.

Huck is scary but I doubt he’d have a chance to win the general election. Then again, stranger things have happened.

I don’t know, there seems to be a surge in Christian fundamentalism in this country. Scares the hell out of me that so many people latch on to these backwards movements…

Very few Christian fundamentalists like the idea of the Mosaic Law becoming the official law of the land. Suggesting that they do, is akin to saying that your average atheist voter would wholeheartedly support the collectivist, mass-murdering policies of the atheist leaders of the 20th century.

Obama > Huckabee > Hillary/Rudy… in general election. Not what I want, but how I think it play out.

Spitzer has done a lot of good in holding criminal corporatist thieves accountable. Your objection to him is trivial and political. Do you really want a return to the age of the robber baron, which the Bush junta has actively worked on for the last 7 years?

For all his flaws (self-promotion, etc.), Spitzer has done good in the world. I had occasion to consult his office when he was attorney-general, and found the attorneys I talked to to be helpful, efficient, and motivated. Motivated by something other than money, unlike greedy corporatist drones, I might add.

He does have very powerful enemies, however, and they play dirty. I’d rather support him than the greedy bastards who want to bring him down. Why do you throw your lot in with them?

When fundamentalists Christians get to the point of thinking Mosaic law is appropriate, then something is really wrong, with the Christianity, they claim. The Bible I read says that Jesus came to release us from the law, through His sacrifice. Did he not forgive the adultress in front of the men who could not “cast the first stone”? I guess the Christians need to ask WWJD? Probably His sacrifice was because “all have sinned” and could never fully live a perfect life, completely fulfilling the law. And who will be judging? Well, the Christians, who have been told “judge not, lest ye be judged”! Any actions taken to get political validity to their practice, would be violating the first amendment! I came from a different backround than the Baptists. And, my beliefs were ridiculed by them! NO DENOMINATION should have any governmental power. I guess that is why the first amendment is there!

Yes, like Spitzer they are probably motivated by power more than money.

Here’s a special one for you, Radley: http://www.maysville-online.com/articles/2007/12/26/ap/us/d8toqnog0.txt

“Idaho Police Academy Graduates come up with exciting new motto: ‘Don’t suffer from PTSD, go out and cause it.’”

I’m sure the police academy will respond by refusing to commission such shining examples, right? Right?

From the article, it appears that the only connection between Huckabee and this particular religious outfit is that a funraiser was held in a certain person’s house.

Unless Huckabee has expressed his support of that outfit, how does that hold any sway over Huckabee any more than any other ordinary acquaintance?

Remember, Ron Paul has been photographed with some of those white supremacist goons, with much being made of that in some circles. And I support Ron Paul (as he’s the only major-party candidate that seems to both understand what the Consitution is, and promises to actually abide by it).

male enhancement/mental enhancement one a day vitamin with extra C and E.

Pulling motorists over to gift them with a $5 Starbucks card is just an inexpensive license to fish without otherwise probable cause. Don’t mind if they take a quick peek through the windows while handing over your gift card. Besides, it’s an easy ploy to sell to a populace that just loves Free Stuff.
