Site Update

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

The comments seem to be working, now.  The problem is that the comment rating plug-in we used, called “Comment Karma,” was crashing the server.  Which kinda’ sucks, because I was hoping some sort of self-policing system would keep the discussion civil and productive.

For now, we’ll keep the comments and see how it goes.  If anyone has any recommendations on a better comment rating plug-in for WordPress, let me know.

    Did you try this:

    Uhh Nando,
Comment Karma is the program he was attempting to use. That link goes to the same software.

Oh, eh Radley. Good on the comments but is there a “preview” option?? If so, that’d be nice.

Thumbs up to #3. A preview button would be very niec.

    Kwix,

Yes, I was just wondering if he used that release (2.1), had put it in the right folder, or if he changed the header as specified. It was more to troubleshoot than to replace.

I liked this site better without comments.

    Not that my opinion matters.

Having read this site for a while with comments, and then without, I definitely prefer it with. Comments can be annoying at a site like reason where there’s too many people commenting, but it’s nice at a less trafficked site.

I’m also happy to see comments come back. I don’t generally participate because there’s usually some who has already said what I’m thinking, and probably better written and more concisely than I could have. That being said, I think a lively comments section adds a depth to a site like this that, frankly, I missed when it was gone.

    Thanks Radley!

    Nando,
Aaah, I see. I did not catch that it was a specific version release you were linking to. My mistake.

I’ve also been around since the first comments. Hopefully it will work out this time. I didn’t blame Radley at all the last time he got rid of them. Some peeps were getting a little nasty. That being said, I’m glad they’re back.
