Back to Jena
Tuesday, September 4th, 2007CNN’s now covering the racial ugliness still unfolding in Jena, Louisiana.
I do get a kick out of how local officials say that despite the nooses that hung from the schoolyard tree, the racial epithets, the racially-motivated beatings (on both sides), and the disparate charges faced by white and black student assailants, what’s happening in Jena “has nothing to do with race,” and it’s just the race-obsessed media that’s driving all of this.
Meanwhile, the school has banned students from wearing “Free the Jena 6″ t-shirts.
I’m fairly sure that the overtly political nature of the shirts makes the school’s prohibition of them unconstitutional.
