Argentina Pics IV: Hotel Llao Llao
Sunday, July 29th, 2007The Hotel Llao Llao (prounced “jhow-jhow) is just outside of Bariloche, and usually ranked among the top hotels in the world. It sits nestled in the Andes foothills, surrounded by rocky mountains and bright blue lakes. I couldn’t pan back enough to get a good shot of the full, bewildering setting, but this shot gives you a pretty good idea. We didn’t stay there. Even with the generous currency exchange, it’s a pretty expensive room. But we did drop by for the hotel’s afternoon tea, which includes a delectable little innovation called a “pastry buffet.” All-you-can-eat salmon sandwiches, deli meets, cheeses, and more than a dozen deserts. And as you can see, the hotel sells a wilderness luxury vibe. The gift shops sell pelts and fox fur blankets. And the hotel and its surrounding environs are really photogenic.
The second one is my favorite, with the pool, the lake, the near mountains, and the snow-capped mountain in the background. Took about a half-dozen tries to get it right.
