The Good That Is IJ
Tuesday, June 12th, 2007So as mentioned, I spoke at the Institute for Justice’s Castle Coalition conference over the weekend.
I don’t have much to report. The speech went well, and I talked to lots of people with horrible stories about getting eminent domained.
I just feel like jocking IJ a bit. There’s not a better bang-for-your-buck libertarian organization around, anywhere. Just a bunch of really smart, really motivated, really principled, really passionate people who remarkably manage to stay upbeat and positive in the face of all the crap they fight from day to day. You can usually get a good feel for the heart of a D.C. organization by how they treat their interns. Nearly every intern I’ve talked to who has worked at IJ ends up wanting to go to law school to become the next Scott Bullock or Dana Berliner.
When people ask me to whom they might donate some money to best advance the cause of liberty, I generally say IJ, Cato, and the Reason Foundation (after TheAgitator.com, of course!). There are others, of course. And take with a grain of salt the fact that I’ve worked for two of those groups. But that I have worked for two of those groups I guess reflects even better on IJ.
