Police Impersonators
Thursday, November 23rd, 2006The woman in this interview seems largely unsympathetic to Johnston, in part because she doesn’t believe in guns. Still, I found this quote interesting:
She said she understood Kathryn Johnston might have been frightened by recent break-ins staged by robbing crews wearing undercover police gear.
This is a continuing problem. Paramilitary raids are so frequent now that many criminals are catching on. Dress like raiding cops, and occupants may well let you in without confrontation. Yet another reason why they’re a bad idea.
I’m in Indiana, so I don’t have my research at hand. But I do seem to remember coming across several such cases in Georgia (I can’t remember if it was Atlanta specifically) while researching Overkill. Anyone know of any specific examples?
