Patterico
Thursday, November 23rd, 2006He responds to my post here.
Apparently, I “misstated his positions.” Whatever. You can read my post, read his (be sure to check his comments section, where he gets rather flip about the poor woman’s death), and make up your own mind.
Frankly, I’m really not that interested in what he has to say. It’s basically the same boilerplate defense of these raids we get each time one of them ends up killing someone. I only jumped in because Patterico couldn’t just offer his opinion on the Johnston case — he had to go ahead and toss inad hominem attacks on my credibility. So yeah. Yer’ damned skippy I’m going to jump in and defend myself.
One last point, though. Patterico repeatedly says that I “demonize the police officers” who are just doing their jobs in these raids. On the contrary. I have gone out of my way — in my paper and elsewhere — to emphasize that the individual officer who rightfully fears for his life and uses lethal force in one of these raids isn’t to blame. The policy that put him in that position is.
With that, I’m done. I’ve already wasted enough time on the guy.
