Note that the music and videos of Van Halen, Prince, Zappa, Twisted Sister and Billy Idol are still with us, not to mention the likes of Slayer, Marilyn Manson, and Eminem. Somehow, through it all, we’ve managed to avoid collapsing under the weight of our own moral rot.

Of course, Janet Jackson’s left sweater puppy could still bring down the republic.
