Well, I’ll be damned. If the tiny victories keep piling up like they have today, I may have to tone down my cynicism. But only a little. Three more bits of good news:
In my home state, city officials in Indianapolis apparently tried to zone a dominatrix out of business. After the new zoning laws went into effect, a vice squad conducted a sting operation in hopes of catching her breaking the new rules. She challenged the laws, and won. The punchline: She now selling the lingerie the vice cop wore in the sting on eBay.
The city of San Jose has agreed to pay members of the Hells Angels $800,000 for the several pet dogs needlessly slaughtered during SWAT raids.
Finally, in Harrison County, Mississippi, the sheriff has named a new jail warden, in direct response to the Jessie Lee Williams, Jr. case. That’s not so much good news as “duh” news. A new sheriff, several firings, and a few indictments would be good news.
