Wednesday, July 5th, 2006In North Carolina, an elk farmer who fell a bit behind in her recordkeeping was punished when state officials came and destroyed her entire stock.
Apparently, the move was necessary to prevent a devastating disease from infecting the publicly-owned wild elk, despite the fact that there hasn’t been a single reported case of the disease. Not just in the woman’s stock, but in the entire state.
Follow-up here.
