Amateur magician Jacob Grier has the details on a magic shop in Maryland that’s getting taken by the government.

The reason for the taking? It sits between two shopping centers and a parking lot that the county would like to seize. Not for a school or a road. Not even to give to a more lucrative, more revenue-generating business. The county wants to seize the building, tear it down, and build a walkway for pedestrians between the two shopping centers and the parking lot.

The form response Jacob got from county executive Doug Duncan is, um…lacking.

If only there were a couple of high-profile, libertarian magicians with a megaphone who could cast some needed shame on Montgomery County for this. Know of any?
